From our glamping are very beautiful cycling routes. You can rent bikes at the following companies.
In the Natural Park Serra d’Aire e Candeeiros is the first official mountain bike center of Portugal, the Centro de BTT In the vicinity are 7 routes that vary in distance and in level of difficulty. The total length of the route is 265 kilometers. It is possible to link different routes or to switch to another route in between. The routes go through nature and nice places in the region where you can have a snack or a drink. The mountain bike center is located next to the ecological park Pia do Urso in the nature park Serra d’Airee e Candeeiros. There are changing rooms with shower, but there is also room for cleaning and minor maintenance of the bike.
The route is maintained throughout the year and once a year all routes are checked and major maintenance takes place.
In Lourinhã (36 min drive) in 2018 the largest outdoor dinosaur park in Europe opened. In this park (10 hectares) there are 120 models of life-size dinosaurs and other animals. See: http://www.dinoparque.pt/
From our glamping it is about 1.5 km walk to imprints of dinosaur feet in the rocks by the sea. We will gladly tell you how to walk there.
Near Bairro, situated between Fátima and Torres Novas, a whole trail (almost 150 meters long) of front and hind leg prints of dinosaurs has been found. This ‘Pedreira do Galinha’ is 175 million years old. A path has been laid out around the excavation, so that you can follow the whole track. See: www.pegadasdedinossaurios.org
Oeste (west) is located in the middle of Portugal, on the coast. It is an important wine region. Wine and sea. So your holiday can’t go wrong anymore. The Rota do vinho do Oeste, the wine route through the Oeste, runs through the area. The route takes you past the fishing port of Peniche, the Cabo Carvoeiro, the Berlengas Islands and the very touristy medieval town of Óbidos. The route takes you further inland. The entire wine region of the Oeste stretches from the Ribatejo to the beautiful wide beaches of Santa Cruz and Baleal.
For bird lovers, there are several beautiful locations for bird watching. Near the Lagoon of Obidos (Foz do Arelho). The nature reserve / marsh near Tornada. (15 min drive) At this nature reserve is a walk of 4 kilometers plotted where you get binoculars and a bird guide. See: Paul de Tornada (marsh/nature reserve)
In the Lagoon near Foz do Arelho, on the beach near Salir do Porto, at sea and at our place below the rocks, there is plenty of fishing every day. Portugal is ideal for a fishing holiday. Yet the country is still relatively unknown to most anglers. Fishing in Portugal is still quite undiscovered, so you can enjoy fishing without being disturbed, in peace and quiet, during your holiday. Because Portugal has a long maritime tradition, sea fishing is part of the culture and gastronomy of the country. You can find about 200 different kinds of fish in the waters of Portugal.
